CWS

Help chosen charity (CWS) redesign their website. To better engage their target audience and increase their online presence.

Chosen Charity

Cat Welfare Society

Cat Welfare Society is a a self-help network of volunteers, cat caregivers and fosterers who actively help sterilise, rehome and rehabilitate thousands of stray cats in Singapore every year.

They strive to help out stray cats through advocacy, sterilisation, mediation and educational outreach programmes.

Website: https://www.catwelfare.org/

Rationale

There are many stray cats and kittens in Singapore. Helping this charity will allow more people to be educated and support Cat Welfare Society’s charity and donations, which may save fellow cats and kittens from accidents and getting killed.

Person whom site is intended for

  • Potential donors of Cat Welfare Society

  • People who wish to buy from their store

  • Potential volunteers

  • People who wants to be educated on how to help stray cats

  • Potential adopters or fosterers

Online presence in the form of a website will help the CWS’s mission and responsibilities for their social cause such as:

  • Raise awareness on CWS

  • Entice people to help/volunteer with CWS

  • Get their Cats adopted

  • Increase knowledge for responsible caregiving and cat ownership in Singapore

  • Collect donations for CWS

Testing

I conduct user testing for my prototype by listing a few tasks that I want my users to do on the website. I then provide them access to the XD file via a link so that they can complete the tasks given to them.

Here is the list of task which I ask them to do, that would lead them to navigate to all the page:

  1. Look for a cat image with a red ribbon

  2. Find the The Board 2021/22 of CWS

  3. Find out what are the mission of CWS

  4. Look for the cat name “Joo”

I also keep track of the time spend for them to complete the all task, to see if it is easy to navigate around After they complete the task I ask them if they have any feedback for me to take note of.

Changes make based on feedback

Feedback collected:

  • Pink header text are hard to read against the white background.

  • Navigation bar interaction is a bit laggy, maybe can add in a dark color when hover?

  • Too many text for the “Our Team” page, can consider hiding some text.

  • Can have the search bar expanded out because there are many page, so I will probably use the search bar more often.

In this design, I use design elements such as images, text, and color to entice the audience to learn more about the charity. I also use the same color palette as the website to keep things consistent.

Aside from that, I use the shape of a cat's paw to guide the audience around creating a fun and cheerful tone.

Include a brief introduction to the chosen charity so that the audience understand who is sending them this message.

The audience will be directed to the website by clicking on the Learn More button, which is a call to action to get them to visit the website to learn more about how they can help the cats.

In AR (Augmented Reality) how it looks

In the AR mode, the audience will be able to interact with the following elements:

  • Image

  • Social media (Facebook, YouTube)

  • Call to actions button

  • Video Link (Video Image)

What the audience will experience?

  • Upon click on the image of the cat the cat image will zoom in and at the same time the audience will be able to hear the sound of the cat they selected.

  • Upon click on the Facebook icon they will be bring to the Facebook page of CWS

  • Upon click on the YouTube icon they will be bring to the YouTube channel page of CWS
